Monday

  • Spend 5 minutes practicing sight word flashcards. Learn and add a few new words each day.

  • Find and complete Seesaw assignment(s) for today.

  • Read: (with help) the slides with new spelling and sight words. Watch the video slide to review sight words.

  • Writing: Draw a picture and write at least one sentence in your journal. Check for spaces between words, a capital letter at the beginning and a period at the end. .

  • Read 20 minutes with an adult. Explore the books in your plastic reading folder.

Tuesday

  • Sight words: Complete 2 assigned activities at Spellingcity.com. Watch the video above to help you log in and find assignments.

  • Find and complete Seesaw assignment(s) for today.

  • Read 20 minutes, at least 10 on Kids A-Z Reading . The link and passwords are below. Students have used this in class. They go to "level up" and listen and read to books at their reading level.

  • If your student uses Lexia Core 5 , please have them log in for 20 minutes. Kids have already done Lexia in class and will know if they have Lexia.

Wednesday

  • Spend 5 minutes practicing sight word flashcards. Learn and add a few new words each day.

  • Find and complete Seesaw assignment(s) for today.

  • Re-read: The vocabulary reader "Sharks" from above. Notice the yellow words are our sight words this week!

  • Read 20 minutes with an adult. Explore the books in your plastic reading folder.

  • If your student uses Lexia Core 5 , please have them log in for 20 minutes. Kids have already done Lexia in class and will know if they have Lexia.


Thursday

  • Word work: Complete 2 assigned activities at Spellingcity.com OR spend 5 minutes practicing your sight word flashcards.

  • Find and complete Seesaw assignment(s) for today.

  • Read 20 minutes, at least 10 on Kids A-Z reading. The link and passwords are below. Students have used this in class. They go to "level up" and listen and read to books at their reading level.

Fantastic Friday:

  • Word work: Watch the sight words story video on slide 2 (or click here). Have students read the sight word stories in their printed sight word packet.

  • Check Seesaw for today.

  • Spelling test: Print the spelling test form. An adult orally gives spelling test. Kids will need to use their journals to record words. This week's words are on slide 3 at the top of the page, Children should try to write one sentence on the bottom using a spelling word. Please mark incorrect words with an x and have students practice words they missed in their journal.

  • Scholastic News Article: Click the scholastic news link below. Find the "A Heart Full of Thanks" article. Watch the videos, click through vocabulary and then listen and read the article. Skill-building sheets, games and activities are optional.

  • Homework: Submit a photo of spelling test on Seesaw.

  • Read with an adult for 20 minutes. Practice sounding out and then "sliding" through words. Look for sight words that you know. Slowly slide though words you may have guessed to make sure the letters match the word(this is "cross-checking")

  • If your student uses Lexia Core 5 , please have them log in for 20 minutes.


Lexia Core 5 students click here to do LexiaCore 15-20 minutes, at least 3 days per week.


**Use Chrome browser. The first time your child logs onto LexiaCore5 on their device, you will need to type sr@kpbsd.org as the teacher email. From there, they can use their school username and password. Most Chromebooks have Lexia bookmarked with your child's password saved.

Zoo Phonics- Children should practice their letter names and sounds each day. Print the Zoo phonics chart to refer to when children are reading and writing. Watch the video to learn the actions that go with each letter. Then practice on your own to see how quickly children can remember and make the letter sounds.
