WHAT WILL WE BE LEARNING NEXT WEEK?
In Language Arts, students will explain how narrative techniques develop the events and tension of the plot and how expository techniques present facts and develop the main topic to inform the reader.
In Math, students will write and solve one-step equations and inequalities in context.
In Accelerated Math, students will write and solve two-step equations and inequalities in context.
In Science, students will plan and carry out an investigation to demonstrate how energy from the sun transfers heat to air, land, and water at different rates. The Part A Unit Test will be on Wednesday. Then, students will develop a model demonstrating the interaction between unequal heating and the rotation of Earth that causes local and global wind systems.
In Social Studies, students will explain the impact of the Cuban Revolution, describe the current relationship between Cuba and the United States, and explain the impact of poverty, the war on drugs, and migration to the United States on Latin America.

A Field Trip is Coming!
JA BizTown® is a day-long visit to a simulated town. This popular learning experience allows students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. Students are able to connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world.
Following participation in the learning experience, students will be able to:
-- Discuss the roles they play as citizens, workers, and consumers in their community and relate those roles to the free enterprise system.
-- Discuss the importance of citizen rights and responsibilities in a community.
-- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the free enterprise system.
-- Build money management skills through a practical knowledge of economic concepts and banking practices.
-- Develop an understanding of basic business practices and responsibilities.
-- Display the soft skills necessary for successful participation in the world of work.
JA Learning Experiences support national and state standards in reading, mathematics, social studies, and work and career readiness.
