WHAT WILL WE BE LEARNING NEXT WEEK?
In Language Arts, students will recognize and describe how a poet uses a poetic technique to develop the meaning of a poem, explain how an author’s choices in structure, such as stanzas or added quotes, help show the poem’s meaning and purpose, determine how the poet’s word choice contributes to the tone throughout the poem, describe and analyze how a text is organized by identifying its format, structure, patterns, and features, and explain and evaluate how the text’s format, structure, patterns, and features affect the audience, make the text easier to understand, and support the author’s purpose.
In Math, students will use coordinate planes to graph ordered pairs and find the difference between two points.
In Accelerated Math, students will complete operations using rational numbers.
In Science, students will ask questions to determine the differences between renewable/sustainable energy resources (e.g., hydro, solar, wind, geothermal, tidal, biomass) and nonrenewable energy resources (e.g., nuclear resources, such as uranium, and fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and natural gas).
In Social Studies, students will explain the relationship between investment in capital (factories, machinery, and technology) and gross domestic product (including GDP per capita) in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Russia by analyzing charts and tables and describe the role of natural resources in a country's economy. The unit common assessment will be on Wednesday.
