WHAT WILL WE BE LEARNING NEXT WEEK?
In Language Arts, students will establish a purpose for reading by monitoring their understanding by using annotations, questioning, connecting, and summarizing techniques to interpret how setting and characterization influence the plot; write the introduction of a short story focusing on using descriptive details to give readers a sense of who and where the characters are, what is happening, or what will happen; and contribute to discussions and shared projects by listening to others’ ideas, by offering my own ideas, and by providing feedback.
In Math, students will compare and order rational numbers in context.
In Accelerated Math, students will complete operations using rational numbers.
In Science, students will construct an explanation of how the movement of lithospheric plates (i.e., convergent boundary, divergent boundary, and transform boundary), called plate tectonics, is due to convection currents below the lithosphere, and can cause major geologic events such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
In Social Studies, students will compare and contrast the economic systems of the United Kingdom, Germany, and Russia and explain how specialization encourages trade between countries in Europe by analyzing graphs and diagrams.
