WHAT WILL WE BE LEARNING NEXT WEEK?
In Language Arts, students will analyze and visualize sections of the text by describing how the author uses certain expository techniques (main ideas and key details) to convey meaning, analyze and interpret how the author’s choice of evidence reveals her perspective and impacts credibility, analyze how multiple purposes target specific audiences, analyze and use context clues and parts of speech to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words, explain how word choice reveals the author’s perspective and supports multiple purposes for target audiences, analyze a text to explain and interpret how the author’s choices in structure and features make their message clear, and write 1-2 paragraphs analyzing the mentor text, citing details from the text that demonstrate the effective characteristics of a memoir.
In Math, students will use absolute value in context and on a number line to order, compare, and plot rational numbers. There will be a unit assessment on Friday.
In Accelerated Math, students will complete operations using rational numbers.
In Science, students will ask questions to determine the differences between renewable/sustainable energy resources (e.g., hydro, solar, wind, geothermal, tidal, biomass) and nonrenewable energy resources (e.g., nuclear resources, such as uranium, and fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and natural gas).
In Social Studies, students will explain the relationship between investment in capital (factories, machinery, and technology) and gross domestic product (including GDP per capita) in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Russia by analyzing charts and tables and describe the role of natural resources in a country's economy.
