WHAT WILL WE BE LEARNING NEXT WEEK?
In Language Arts, students will explain how authors use anecdotes to structure and present ideas, read closely to recognize and describe how the author uses expository techniques to establish the central idea, read closely to cite textual to support inferences, read closely to recognize and describe the structures and expository techniques that the author uses to convey the meaning of the text and establish their tone and purpose for writing, and work collaboratively to conduct research, analyze and evaluate sources of information and gather relevant evidence to support claims about animal communication.
In Math, students will solve problems involving ratios and proportions.
In Accelerated Math, students will order, compare, and plot rational numbers. The unit 3A assessment will be on Tuesday. Beginning Wednesday, students will begin plotting points on a coordinate plane.
In Science, students will plan and carry out an investigation to construct an explanation supported by evidence that soil is composed of layers of weathered rocks and decomposed organic material.
In Social Studies, students will explain how German reunification contributed to the collapse of the Soviet Union and led to the end of the Cold War. The Unit 3 Test will be on Wednesday. The remainder of the week will be a review for the district assessment.

Midterm Season Is Here – We’re Halfway Through the Semester!
We’ve officially reached the halfway point of the grading period, and midterm grades will be printed and sent home with your student on Tuesday. In addition, District Assessments, the midterm exams for GCPS, begin this week. It’s a great time to check in with your student about their progress, encourage healthy study habits, and help them stay organized. Teachers are available for extra support, and we’re here to help every student finish the semester strong!
