WHAT WILL WE BE LEARNING NEXT WEEK?
In Language Arts, students will analyze texts to examine the essential question, How do you find courage in the face of fear?
In Math, students will add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals.
In Accelerated Math, students will solve problems involving finding equivalent ratios.
In Science, students will plan and carry out an investigation of the properties of minerals and how minerals contribute to rock composition and construct an explanation of how to classify rocks by their formation and how rocks change through geologic processes. The test will be on Tuesday, 9/9. Beginning Wednesday, students will develop models to explain the natural process of weathering, erosion, and deposition.
In Social Studies, students will identify and describe the similarities and differences between the major religions of Europe: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The test on the Geography of Europe will be on Thursday. The students then begin to learn about historical developments in Europe.

I have contacted the teacher and have not heard back from them. What are my next steps?
Certainly, contacting your child's teacher with concerns and questions is your first step. Since we do not allow teachers to answer parent calls or emails during instructional time, please allow up to 48 hours for teachers to respond. If the teacher is unable to resolve your concerns given that time frame, contact the grade level counselor or assistant principal. If you would like to meet with Ms. Mutcherson or Ms. Bell in person, the most efficient way to do this is to schedule an appointment by contacting the 6th grade office.
The GCPS district office provides support on the process of who should be contacted for addressing your concerns. Please click on the link to see a graphic of the flowchart: Addressing Concerns at School.
Have a counseling need? Please explore the resources below.
