The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling programs states that all students should be provided equitable access to school counseling services . The purpose of the responsive services component is to intervene on behalf of those students whose immediate personal circumstances, concerns, or problems interfere with their healthy personal, social, educational, and career development. In responsive services the way a school counselor responds effectively to problematic or critical incidents to support students and offer services in their time of need. School counselors are highly qualified to meet the immediate needs of students. Societal and school climate changes influence student development. Therefore, a school counselor must be capable of providing responsive services at the preventive, remedial, and crisis levels (Gysbers and Henderson, 2012).
Counselors must complete the Suicide Screener when working with students exhibiting suicidal ideation or making suicidal comments. Print the screener or make a copy of the Google document and fill it out electronically.
Provide a copy of the screener to the campus Principal. Upload the completed screener to the shared Google campus folder.
Update the Suicide Screener document in your campus Google folder

Counselors need to notify the campus diagnostician whenever a student is hospitalized, so the campus team can work together to determine how to proceed when the student returns to campus. The question should be asked if the student would benefit from additional support at school. This support could be offered under Section 504 or a possible referral to SpEd.
We need to ensure that students who receive treatment at an inpatient facility don't return to school without any support, working together with your campus team to determine the plan of action will be the first step in helping this student.
Campus administration will determine what information will be shared with teachers.
