  • • Letter that will go out to parents of current 5th and 6th grade students that scored in the top 40% for MAP who will be placed in advanced math for next year.

Advanced Course Requirements in Math and ELAR based on STAAR results

• Students should NOT take the following courses if STAAR scores are NOT MET:

• • If a 4th grade student DID NOT MEET (DNM) the passing standard on Math and Reading STAAR , the student should NOT take 5th grade Math and Reading advanced courses

  • If a 5th grade student DID NOT MEET (DNM) the passing standard on Math and Reading STAAR, the student should NOT take 6th grade Math and Reading advanced courses

• Students might be a good candidate to take the following courses if the student scored MEETS or MASTERS on STAAR:

• •  If a 4th grade student scored MEETS or MASTERS on Math and Reading STAAR , the student might be a good candidate to take 5th grade Math and Reading advanced courses

  • If a 5th grade student scored MEETS or MASTERS on Math and Reading STAAR , the student might be a good candidate to take 6th grade Math and Reading advanced courses

*** Ask your teachers to identify students in their classes that would be good candidates for advanced classes, before the end of the year.

Reminder - All students identified as GT students, must be in at least one advanced course.
