Letter that will go out to parents of current 5th and 6th grade students that scored in the top 40% for MAP who will be placed in advanced math for next year.
Letter that parents can complete to document they do not want their student to participate in Advanced Math.
Skyward Instructions for Entering Courses - Example
Students should NOT take the following courses if STAAR scores are NOT MET:
If a 6th grade student DID NOT MEET (DNM) the passing standard on Math and Reading STAAR , the student should NOT take 7th grade Math and Reading advanced courses
If a 7th grade student DID NOT MEET (DNM) the passing standard on Math and Reading STAAR, the student should NOT take 8th grade Math and Reading advanced courses
Math specific - If a 7th grade Advanced Math student DID NOT MEET (DNM) the passing standard on the 8th grade Math STAAR, the student should NOT take 8th grade Algebra I course
Students SHOULD take the following courses if the student scored MEETS or MASTERS on STAAR:
If a 6th grade student scored MEETS or MASTERS on Math and Reading STAAR , the student might be a good candidate to take 7th grade Math and Reading advanced courses
If a 7th grade student scored MEETS or MASTERS on Math and Reading STAAR , the student might be a good candidate to take 8th grade Math and Reading advanced courses
Reminder - All students identified as GT students, must be in at least one advanced course.
