In efforts to ensure we provide nets for all our students counselors will utilize Skyward to document/track all guidance office visits. This page will provide a step-by-step guide for the Skyward Guidance Visit utility.
A guidance visit should be entered into Skyward anytime you "support" a student through a situation involving the reasons listed below:
Scheduling
Personal - Self
Personal - Family
Student Conflict
Attendance
Academic
College/Career Readiness
4 year PGP
Endorsement
Not seen - unable to see the student on the same day
Post secondary
Parent contact
Suicide screener
CPS Report
Group Session
Securly Report
Refer/Resources
Behavior - to satisfy MTSS requirements
Home visit
This can be done in your office, hallway, cafeteria, bus line, etc. You are a professional and must use fidelity when inputting your guidance visits. Are you "supporting" a student or simply saying "Hi"?? It's important and an expectation for guidance visits to be entered. Administrators and district administrators need to see the data showing the number of students you are spending your day with and the reasons why.
Guidance visit totals will be shared with Principals twice a year:
August-December
Principals will receive visit totals the last week of December
January-May
Principals will receive visit totals the last week of May
To assist in a smooth transition secondary campuses will be receiving a Chromebook so that students will be able to login and initiate the guidance visit. Please print the Student Login In Procedures and place next to Chromebook kiosk. Students will complete the following steps:
Student Name
Grade
Reason for Visit (drop down menu)
Counselor (drop down menu)
Comments (not required)
Once students complete the following steps they will submit and the counselor will receive an email alerting them a student is waiting to see them.
