Activity 2: The Little Red Hen’s Steps to Bake Bread
Find the seeds – The Little Red Hen finds some wheat seeds and decides to plant them.
Plant the seeds – She plants the seeds in the soil, even though no one helps her.
Water and care for the plants – She waters the seeds and pulls weeds so they will grow.
Harvest the wheat – When the wheat grows tall and golden, she cuts it down.
Take the wheat to the mill – She carries the wheat to the miller, who grinds it into flour.
Mix the ingredients – She takes the flour home and mixes it with water, yeast, and salt.
Knead the dough – She kneads the dough until it is smooth.
Let it rise – She lets the dough rest so it will rise and become fluffy.
Bake the bread – She puts the dough in the oven and bakes it until it turns golden brown.
Enjoy the bread – At the end, the Little Red Hen eats the fresh, warm bread all by herself—because she was the only one who worked for it!
