Activity 1
Today's story is about a boy who comes up with all different reasons why his mom should let him have a stegosaurus.

Activity 2
Allow the students to come up and act out a scene where the student is asking you (teacher), as the mother, for a stegosaurus. Another student can act as the stegosaurus. Make sure the student asking for a stegosaurus is using factual, measurable, or observable "reasons" for his or her choice. If they say the what it becausse it is nice, be sure to dig deeper and and ask why is it nice? What would you see if the dinosaur was nice? Allow the students to brainstorm factual ideas as to why having a dinosaur would be useful.
Activity 3
Fact or Opinion: Partner or group the students so they can discuss whether or not this statement can be proven (fact) or is it just the way someone thinks or feels (opinion). Once they decide as a group, they can stand for a fact or stay sitting for an opinion.

Dogs have four legs.
Apples can be red, green, or yellow.
Fish live in water.
A triangle has three sides.
Ice cream is the best dessert.
Cats are cuter than dogs.
Summer is the most fun season.
Pizza tastes better than spaghetti.
Blue is the prettiest color.
Activity 4
For this activity, tell the students that they are going to ask for a monster. They must come up with a factual reason why a monster would be helpful and share it with you. Then give them a piece of paper to create their monster.
