LOGICAL THINKING - Grade K

Lesson 2 of 6

Activity 1

Review what an inventor is: See Lesson 1.  Be sure to review the book Ten Black Dots by Donald Crews.

Today you will brainstorm lots of new objects that could be added to the story we are reading.

Begin to read Curious George's ABCs by H. A. Rey.                     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_41wO3_0B8

Pause after different pages, ask students to share new ideas as to what can be made with each letter.  For example:

What new idea does someone have for making something new using the letter "A"? Could you use any black dots to complete your picture?

What new idea does someone have for making something new using the letter "B" and some black dots together?

Does anyone have any ideas for using an "O"? Could you use some black dots to complete that picture?

Stand up and show me what an "S" looks like.

Stand up and show me what a "W" looks like.  Can anyone demonstrate a "W" in a different way?
