Activity 1

Review what they learned from lesson 1: To be a good detective you need to find and read all of the clues, not all clues are obvious, you may have to combine clues, and you should not jump to conclusions.

Share this picture with the students and ask questions that require them to share the evidence for their answer:

What do you think is happening in this picture? Why do you think that?

What season is it? What helps you know?

Is this happening in the country (rural) or in the city (urban)? How can you tell?

Is everyone playing in water?

Is it raining? How do you know?

What are some other things that are happening?

Get with a partner and see if you can figure these out:

Rocky and Tally are a bird and an elephant. Rocky weighs more than Tally. Who is what?
Bryce and Alicia are a waitress and a waiter. Who has which job?
If Rudy, the dog, were 5 inches taller, his height would be 16 inches. How tall is he?
If Rod were 10 inches shorter, he would be the same height as Stacy. Stacy is 60 inches tall. How tall is Rod?
Mark only owns blue and green shirts. Today, Mark is wearing a shirt. What color is Mark's shirt?

Activity 5

Which Ladybug Won The Race?

Draw five ladybugs on a piece of paper in a row like they are in a race. Draw the correct number of spots on the back of each ladybug to see who won.

The 7-spotted ladybug came in second.
The 6-spotted ladybug did not finish last.
The 4-spotted one finished right begind the one with 2 spots.
The 5-spotted ladybug is the fastest.
The last 3 ladybugs have even numbers of spots.
