Reflective Writing
with thanks to Dr. Kate Bricknell of Crossroads Education
EVERY lesson has a reflection in the last 5 minutes. WHAT - SO WHAT - NOW WHAT?
Reflective writing is academic self analysis of your work. IT IS NOT A CONFESSIONAL.
NSW K-12 Glossary defines 'reflection' as:
The thought process by which students develop an understanding and appreciation of their own learning. This process draws on both cognitive (brain) and affective (emotional) experience.
Notice the importance of 'Fix-It Feedback'
Notice the power of losing your ego when looking to improve
Notice how many drafts were required
What have you written?
PAC-V your text
What have you done as a writer?
Where have you done it? QUOTE
How have you done it? FORMS and FEATURES?
Why have you done it? REFER TO MASTERS you emulated.
How well have you done the task?
Look at the question as to where you put your emphasis on these points
Always JUSTIFY yourself … because…because…because…
