'We are many'
stoneware clay, acrylic paint, gold paint
10 pieces
For my work, I have chosen to use ceramics to represent my cultural background as an Australian, Japanese, and Taiwanese person. For each country, I have implemented famous sites that represented each country into the composition and have divided this among the ten plates that I have made. By having ten different plates that compose into one large piece, I hope to convey how these three countries are valuable to me.
Through this work, I wish to portray the importance of my cultural background as part of my identity. I have symbolised this importance by implementing gold paint throughout all plates to display how I treasure these cultures. I have assembled the ten plates close together to make it appear as one large painting to emphasise how these three cultures make one. Therefore, the title "we are many" highlights the many cultures that make my identity.
