N5 Music

NAtional 5 Music Course outline

The National 5 Music Qualification is divided into 3 components that make up the final grade: 

        Performance                     (50%)

Pupils will sit a pracitcal exam in February/March time. They will perform 8 minutes of music across their two chosen instruments in front of an SQA examiner. 

Understanding Music (35%)

Pupils will sit a paper during the SQA exam diet where they will be asked to identify concepts covered in class from a variety of music styles and periods. 

        Composition       (15%)

This is worth 15% of your final grade. This is a project that you will work on throughout the year before being submitted to the SQA during February/March time. This aspect of the course will be worth 30 marks.
