Performance Exam Information
Practical Exam
This is worth 50% of your final grade. You demonstrate your musical skills on two instruments or one instrument and voice in front of an external examiner from the SQA. Each instrument will be marked out of 30.
Your overall playing time should last at least 8 minutes and should not go longer than 8 minutes and 30 seconds.
You should have at least 2 minutes of music prepared for each instrument within your 8 minute program.
At least two of your pieces on each instrument should be contrasting in style (this could include different keys, tempos and style).
Your pieces should be at least Grade 3 in standard (you do not earn extra credit for choosing more challenging pieces and will be expected to play them to the standard written).
The practical exams will be sometime in February/March. This is EARLIER than the paper in May 2025.
