Today Di was talking about bulbs, seeds and how to plant things.
We learned that bulbs need to be planted at a certain time of year - we planted ours in the Autumn. Bulbs aren't like seeds, because they're much bigger and provide the plant with a food source.
We learned about planting tiny seed too. We're hoping lots of wild flowers will grow which will help with encouraging pollinators and other wildlife.
We were split into two groups, one going with Jerry, scattering wild flower and grass seeds in the meadow, and the other went with Di , to plant Daffodil bulbs, cutting down a plant that was growing out of control in the compost and chopping wrinkled beans. Di's group harvested some pumpkins too. Some of the peas had past their growing season so we took off all the dead brown leaves so that the growing frame could be use again next year.
Jerry's group sprinkled seeds all over the triangle meadow, we sprinkled poppy seeds, wild flowers and more
