This day we managed a shorter journey by about two minutes. Maybe we are getting fitter!
Today Di showed us some of our seedlings which had grown into lovely salad leaves - the pea shoots were all gone in about 5 seconds flat. Ben in particular LOVED them.
We also had some hard work moving woodchips all the way across the whole garden and mixing up some compost in the big bin. Our seedlings are coming on well in the polytunnel and in the veg beds, where Di has them growing up some canes.
Di told us more about what bees get up to today, and we got a close up look at a bee-hive in the open air classroom. We might get a bee lesson from the bee-keeper in the next few weeks. Mrs Mitchell said bees make honey and wasps make jam, but now we know better!
After we did some reading with our groups, and it was lovely getting some space and peace and quiet to do this. One group sat in the 'willow' staff room which seemed unfair to the grown-ups. Mrs Mitchell said that we could get bingo cards when we got back for working so hard today. In Art later in the day, we took inspiration from the garden and tried to copy Rennie Mackintosh's rose design. Not exactly like a real rose, but still in the same theme!
