Padlet/Anti-Bully Campaign
What I Did ✅:
This was a project I worked on with our school counselor Ms. Melfi (pictured above). I have partnered with her on the equity and diversity team and enjoy creating fun ways to boost the morale of our entire school building. Last year we had every student (324 to be exact) in Alburtis Elementary color and design a feather that represented something that "Lifts them Up" as part of the anti-bullying campaign. At the beginning of this year we worked on creating the mural as a place to take a picture and admire all the work and thoughts of others. We added the digital touch by creating a QR code to a Padlet which they then could add their picture and write about what it means to them. Staff and faculty participated as well and we sent it out to families and the community via social media.
What I Learned 🧠:
It is much easier these days to involve the entire community in projects like this one. Since no visitors are allowed in the school many parents have requested things like this and appreciate them now more than ever. I learned that it is possible to take the small learning moments and pictures and projects and share them more broadly with families and the communities with just a few clicks, a hashtag, a tweet or a QR code. This is how you inspire and change the world with technology!
How I Will Grow 🌱:
This project received great feedback from families. It has helped them feel more connected to in-school learning during a time when they are not able to visit the school to see projects like this. We have always and will always do things like this with our students but the difference now is that it is easier to share with a broader audience. Keeping student safety in mind, I will continue to share out more of the great things we do in the classroom while following school social media guidelines and policies.
