FastBridge Student Data Reports
What I Did ✅:
As a kindergarten teacher, it is often difficult to help students analyze their own goals and data. I create very simplified yet colorful graphs to show children where they started when they came into kindergarten and sporadically throughout the year we revisit the data and growth in kid -riendly terms. Parents can be the same in some ways and I try not to overwhelm them with the teacher terms. The program we use for ELA data assessment is called FastBridge. The program itself creates very parent-friendly data reports that I discuss at parent-teacher conferences. For students with concerns, they are progress monitored more frequently and the data drives our support teachers with those small groups of students.
What I Learned 🧠:
I partnered with the instructional support teacher at Alburtis to learn the FastBridge program and all of the options it has when it comes to data analysis. I learned that I can view my class as a whole and hone in on specific language skills and use the data to drive my instruction. I am also better able to assess individual needs and deficits when it comes to designing individual learning plans for below-level students. FastBridge offers training modules that are very user friendly and it took some time to learn how to complete the online assessments that we use.
How I Will Grow 🌱:
The only way to grow as an educator is to spend the time it takes to monitor, analys, and plan with data. I am hoping our district continues to use this program because it often takes a few years to see just how effective a program can be. We currently do not use it for our math skills because our math curriculum has its own data management system but I would be interested in comparing the two programs. There are more demos and screenings offered by FastBridge that I am currently exploring and hope to utilize in the future to monitor growth and progress.
