Final Research Paper
What I Did ✅:
In LLT575 Methods of Research, this core research proposal and paper was designed to gain insight on digital learning applications that far too often schools are investing in without any feedback from parents, students or staff. Young learners have access to digital devices and learning more now than ever before. The role of parental responsibilities and school district stakeholders in the types and amounts of digital learning is crucial to the changes necessary in best practices. In this research, I examined current standards and uses of developmentally appropriate digital learning and the role that parents and educators need to take to ensure the healthy and appropriate use of technology going forward.
What I Learned 🧠:
I learned that returning to college for my master's, as an older adult, with an already established teaching career is possible. I was challenged by this course and this assignment in that I have never before written a research paper like this. The course objectives listed below are just a few of the things this course has taught me.
1. Demonstrate an understanding of the nature and purpose of research.
2. Identify and define research problems.
3. Conduct a systematic survey of the literature relating to a particular research problem.
4. Formulate testable hypotheses and define the basic concepts and variables.
5. Construct the research design to maximize internal and external validity.
6. Compare and contrast basic methods of research and their purposes.
7. Classify, analyze and interpret data collected by diverse research techniques.
8. Evaluate research findings and draw conclusions.
9. Identify areas in which research in library science is needed.
10. Identify research in areas of human diversity and the physically challenged relating to libraries.
How I Will Grow 🌱:
I will grow from this experience both personally and professionally in many ways. I now have the confidence to take on this level of research should it ever be called upon by my school district and I would eagerly volunteer to help. Personally, it has been an amazing achievement that I could not have gone through without the support of my colleagues and the Kutztown University professors and advisors. I now feel more prepared to continue on in my education and possibly explore a doctorate program.
