District Seesaw Library
What I Did ✅:
I piloted the Seesaw platform for student engagement about three years ago. Our district wanted to see if it would be worth making the change from Class Dojo to something that would fit a multitude of needs including parent engagement. For the past two years, and throughout the pandemic, we have been using the paid version which also gives us access to a school and district data base for activity ideas. The photo above is just a snap shot of what is archived as resources for our district in kindergarten. Each grade level has their own resource district page of activities that are standards aligned and grade level appropriate. I regularly add activities, especially those that have related to equity and diversity.
What I Learned 🧠:
Through the district Seesaw library there is quite a few teachers who regularly add and share activities however there are many that do not. In talking with some fellow kindergarten teachers I discovered that there is some fear and confidence concerns when wanting to add to our library. Some worry that district administration will critique and need to be reminded that this is a safe space to add activities to share and hopefully help make the workload a little easier for everyone. Seesaw has made it so digitally organized and easy to share and we are encouraged as a district to help one another.
How I Will Grow 🌱:
I will continue to support and encourage my fellow teachers to add, change and tweek the activities in our district library to best fit their classroom and student learning needs. I will be a supportive coach and hope to make myself more available to review and help anyone who would like to add activities but are fearful and lack a little confidence. The library is something the administration has approved for us to use, and we pay enough money for the service that we should be taking more advantage of it. It is an easy and effective way to collaborate with great teachers digitally.
