O'Keeffe Meets Seraut

For this project you're going to replicate one of Georgia O'Keeffe's paintings in a painting style Georges Seurat made famous that we refer to as pointillism. Here are two of Seurat's paintings using the pointillism style of painting.

Start by doing a Bing image search for 2 or 3 Georgia O'Keeffe paintings you might like to do in the pointillism style. Then watch the video in this section. Choose the one you like the most after you have applied the pointillism filter to each of your selections.

You are also going to use modern technology and digital image manipulation to prepare your source image to use for your painting. Watch this video on how you can use Photopea, a free web based image manipulation software that is very similar to Photoshop to do this.

Watch how this artist paints a painting using pointillism. She doesn't use an undercoat as I described in my earlier video. It's not a necessity, but I think it adds to the overall quality of the finished painting. You decide.

And of course this isn't the only YouTube video on how to do a pointillism painting. Watch whichever, and how many you like to learn as much about it as you can.
