Norman Lee "Norm" Ebrite was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Ebrite, and was married to Faye.
Mr. Ebrite was a 1939 graduate of Burris High School in Muncie, received his B.S. degree in industrial arts in 1943 and his master's degree in educational administration in 1950, both from Ball State Teachers College. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 and received his ensign commission after attending Northwestern University in Chicago. He later was commissioned Lieutenant JG and made flag secretary to the Commander of the Marshall-Gilberts area.
His first teaching job was at Hope High School in Bartholomew County. He taught industrial arts and coached basketball and track. He came to Delphi High School in 1948 and taught industrial arts and social studies. He coached football, basketball, track, and cross country. Mr. Ebrite served as a coach on the first Delphi football team in 1948.

Ponch as he was affectionately known, retired from Delphi Community School Corporation in 1984 as athletic director and was inducted into the Wall of Fame that year.
