Donnie is a DCHS graduate from the class of 1976.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Pearson, and was coached by Dave Young.
Don holds the distinction of being the second Oracle to ever have his number, 14, retired from use on June 14, 1976. In the 1976 Major League Baseball draft he was selected in the 13th round 301st overall by the New York Mets.
At graduation, the 6' 3" Right Handed Pitcher was the baseball team MVP with an ERA of only 0.65, and held all of the Delphi pitching records.
Don reached the AAA level of the Mets Organization. In his five seasons of Minor League Baseball, he appeared in 96 games starting 91 of those. He notched 431 career strikeouts with an MiLB ERA of 4.38, and recorded 23 complete games and 3 shut outs. In his final season before retirement he was traded and retired from the New York Yankees system.
