Andrew Burton is the son of Brian and Janye Burton. He was coached by his father and Al Brannan.

Andrew was an IHSAA Swimming State Qualifier in 2008, 2009, and 2010. He exited his career as Delphi's most decorated male swimmer holding nearly every record. In 2008 he was a double Sectional Champion qualifying for the state finals in both the 50 Free and 100 Free. He followed that up in 2009 by repeating this fete and also qualifying in both relays (200 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay) becoming the only Delphi swimmer to ever have qualified for the state finals in 4 events in the same year. In 2010 as a senior he reached the highest level of competition again, this time in the 100 Fly.
