Sandro Mancarella, MD.

Dr. Sandro Mancarella is a physician specialized in Cardiology at the University of Milan. Since 2015 he has been the Director of the Complex Structure of Medicine of the Bassini Hospital of Cinisello Balsamo (Milan) and since 2017 he has directed the Department of Medical Sciences of the ASST North Milan Company (Bassini Hospital and Sesto San Giovanni Hospital).From 2002 to 2018, he was Director of the Simple Structure of the Emergency Department of the Bassini Hospital. As Department Director, he managed the COVID emergency by coordinating the ongoing reorganization of the departments of the Bassini di Cinisello Balsamo and Sesto San Giovanni hospitals, which have been converted into COVID hospitals.

Dr. Mancarella is the referent for the Departmental Heart Failure Outpatient Medicine and collaborator of the Arterial Hypertension Outpatient Clinic of the Internal Medicine Structure. As part of this activity, he promoted a departmental project to organize a path that guarantees the continuity of care and integrated management of the patient suffering from chronic heart failure in the various passages from the hospital to the territory.

He is a BLSD Instructor and participates in medical and nursing teaching of the management of cardio-respiratory arrest and early use of the defibrillator.

He is training courses teacher for hospital doctors and nurses. Since 2003 he has been teaching as a tutor for students of the degree course in Medicine and Surgery of the Bicocca University of Monza. From 1989 to 1996 he was Professor of the Nursing School and member of the Examining Commission of the Nursing School.

From 1980 to 1982 he was a collaborator of the CNR with a project aimed at CNR Preventive Medicine-Subproject Arterial Hypertension.

Luisa Tavecchia, MD.

Dr. Luisa Tavecchia is a medical specialist in Hematology. Since 2013 she has been working at the First Aid Hospital of Cinisello Balsamo Bassini Hospital (ASST Nordmilano hospital), a hospital that has become a COVID presidium. In the Hospital, he is responsible for the Transfusion Medicine for PS and Medicine, responsible for the Quality for PS and Medicine, medical manager of the "Network against gender violence and the reception in PS of women victims of violence". It promotes the training of medical staff by organizing internal courses. It draws up operational protocols for the clinical management of important pathologies in PS. In 2014 Dr. Tavecchia attended the Course of Emergency Medicine held in Rome by the Institute of Higher Education. From 2000 to 2010 she worked with patients suffering from congenital anemia at the San Gerardo Hospital in Monza, creating a large center for the care of patients suffering from thalassemia and drepanocytosis. She carried out clinical research under the guidance of Prof. Giuseppe Masera. In the same period she was coadjutor of the Unit of Apheresis therapeutic and medullary manipulation-cryopreservation. From 1994 to 1998, during the specialization school at the Haematology of the Policlinico of Verona, Dr. Tavecchia has combined clinical interest for patients with hematological cancer, and research (study of normal and neoplastic blood series cells and umbilical cord cells by cytometry, assay of cytokines, short-term and long-term cell cultures; statistical analysis of prognostic factors in haematological neoplasms, evaluation of the effectiveness and side effects of purine analogues in patients with chronic lymphoproliferative diseases. In 1998 she specialized in Hematology at the University of Verona with a thesis entitled "Cytometric evaluation of the production of cytokines in mononucleate cells of umbilical cord blood". She graduated in 1994 at University of Milan with a thesis entitled "Gene transfer in peripheral blood stem cells mobilized by high-dose chemotherapy. In vitro evaluation and possible clinical applications in autologous transplantation", supervisor dr. Claudio Bordignon (San Raffaele Hospital in Milan)She is the author of 30 publications.
