Alessandra Vergori, MD

Dr Alessandra Vergori is an Infectious Diseases Doctor, working at the HIV/AIDS Unit of the National Institute for Infectious Diseases, L. Spallanzani, IRCCS in Rome. She graduated with honours in Medicine at the University of Siena in 2009. In 2015 she received a specialist degree in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at the University of Florence, in 2016 she obtained a sub-specialization degree in International Health and Tropical Medicine at the Institute of Tropical Medicine of Antwerp, Belgium and in 2019 a Master in Antibiotic Stewardship at the Catholic University of Sacred Heart in Rome.

Since 2016 she has been working at the HIV/AIDS Unit dealing with patients affected by HIV infection, managing antiretroviral therapy, coinfections with HCV, HBV,HPV and the most common opportunistic infections. Her main research interest is about simplification strategies of antiretroviral therapy, coinfections with HCV and HPV. Moreover, she works as sub-investigator in several clinical trials and observational studies in HIV field. More recently, she is cooperating with a multidisciplinary team at the INMI involved in the management of patients living with neurological diseases HIV-related.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, she has worked on the front line of COVID19 and Long-COVID19 management at the same institute. She also participated in clinical trials on SARS-CoV-2 treatment and vaccines as a sub-investigator. She is author of about 50 papers indexed in international journals.


Arianna Emiliozzi, MD.

Dr. Arianna Emiliozzi is currently a consultant in the Infectious Disease Unit at the San Donato Hospital in Arezzo. She graduated with honours in Medical School in 2014 and obtained a specialistic degree in Infectious and Tropical Disease in 2019 at Catholic University of Sacred Heart in Rome. Her main research interest has always been treatment and prevention of viral infection, in particular HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis, with a focus on antiretroviral therapy and HIV drug resistance.
