A MESSAGE FROM

Principal Santos

Gratitude was our attitude for November and December is all about giving! As we round out this amazing year, what does it look like to demonstrate generosity and service to make the world a better place?

Sometimes giving comes in the form of a physical gift, but more often this act can be a gesture, our time, our attention or our willingness to be open and forgiving. This month we will think about the people who do the MOST for us each day and think of ways that we can give back to them. Giving to the people we love and who care for us the most is usually easy and fun. A true spirit of giving is not only about giving to those we love, so we will also spend some time thinking about people in our lives that we may not see eye to eye with or maybe those who we have no connection to at all. How can we look inward and demonstrate generosity in these circumstances as well?

When we talk about empathy, kindness and generosity, we look to investigate what drives our giving? There should be an emphasis on shifting the focus from generous acts to becoming generous people. Through this change in mindset, more emphasis is given on the development of a character trait, a habitual disposition grounded on love and compassion, an ambition to give from oneself to serve the community, to make the world a better place one step at a time. Embodying generosity brings about a paradigm shift, transforming one’s worldview from being focused on how to become better as individuals to focusing on how we can collectively come together to become a better community, society and world.
