What a wonderful start to October. We have so many fun things planned this month. Please take time to read this the events for this month!

Communication Upgrades

This year, we are going to be continuously working to improve communication within our school and to our Solar Community. Please feel free to reach out to me at oborrego@dallasisd.org if you have any feedback to help us make communication better!

One upgrade that will go into effect this week is communication between teachers and parents. Please read the protocol below:

• In order to communicate with teachers, parents/guardians should utilize email or call the front office.

• Remind will only be used to send communication to families from the grade level and will no longer be used to send messages directly to teachers.

• Please include your phone number in the email to teachers so that teachers can call you directly to respond to any concern. This helps save time!

• Always allow up to 48 hours for a response.

• If you have any urgent information or need to speak to someone sooner, please call the front office.

• Our expectation is that teachers do not have their phone out while they are teaching. Responses to parents should only happen during planning or after school!

• In an effort to maximize instructional time, students who are picked up early will not be called down to the office until parents are physically present in the office. (To save time, please change pick-up method for the day in PikmyKid when doing an early pick-up.)

  • Friendly reminders that early dismissal cut-off is 2:30pm and all dismissal changes should be done on the PikmyKid app.

This upgrade will ensure that all communication will be responded to in a consistent, timely manner. Thank you for your continued support and feedback! We appreciate all you do!
