The land of bravery and might, 

Where soldiers fight,

A tale unfolds,

Heroes and battles, bravery and boldness. 

With uniforms adorned, shining bright,

They march together, side by side,

Their dedication and strength unite,

Protecting freedom, day and night. 

The battles, they also know,

The cost of war, the pain and sorrow, 

For in their hearts and the weight 

Of their lives and sacrifices

So let's honor those who serve,

Their unwavering dedication, we preserve 

For their selflessness, we find, 

The true essence of the military kind. 

Authors Commentary 

I was inspired by my stepdad because he was in the army fighting for what he believed in. The American Flag is important to me because of what it symbolizes and the meaning behind it and it shows that people did this for a reason in their lives and they have fought just to get us here today. The poem I wrote made me feel like people, including myself, should appreciate what people in the military do and what they are going through because they are sacrificing their own lives to fight for their rights. People in the military put in their hard work and dedication knowing they will have to leave their families for a while. Everyone may not agree with what they are doing because they could get hurt in the line of duty and come back with many problems from the military. Many people may not care for what people in the military have to do because they aren’t related to them or close to them, but everyone is family. I am grateful to my stepdad for being in the military because it shows he has done everything he could to give me a better future than what he had.
