The sky is blue,
spotted with clouds the color of glue.
My aspirations must come true
So all of my goals are pursued.
I lay in bed with all these thoughts in my head.
All of a sudden everything goes dead.
Everything goes black.
My thoughts quickly turn to slack .
This weight on my shoulders
Makes me want to back track.
I listen to music to help my confusion
I believe there’s only one solution
Or is it just a delusion?
I see a light.
Is it my sign to fight and overcome this fright?
This poem was inspired by the constant aspirations of success that would cloud the mind of a teenager. The writing process that was taken in order to form this poem was focusing on everyday activities and ambitions that might be in someone's train of thought. The type of structure used on this poem was free verse which influenced the rhyming that occurs in the poem by relating multiple different things and bringing them into correlation. We started it off as a joke but then soon it all came together, and we decided to actually put a little more thought and sense into it. This resembles us as authors due to our constant idea of success.
