Oscuras no me sobrepasan
Y te lleva a lados extraordinarias
Paths of Life
I learned to live when
A dark cloud crossed my path
This lesson in my life helped me surpass many more dark clouds
For the obstacles that pass through my path
I will surpass and go beyond the dark cloud
Dark clouds will never stop me
In my life, there is sadness and happiness
Love is what came in my path
It presented difficulties and hardships
Love was a risk I took
Love is also beautiful
I won’t let it dread me with burdens
Love is like a garden
In hopes that it flourishes with passion
My life is full of love
The kind of love that is received from others
Other than that, there is passion
The passion that you’ll always feel
Although I would give more than love
One would never imagine
What acts as a car
And takes you to places extraordinary
Eliana Rubio: Antonio Machado’s ‘Caminos de Vida’ poem inspired me to write a poem similar about the different paths in life. My writing process was difficult to put into words. The ideas were present in my head yet, expressing it on paper made it hard. In my poem, I used repetition to emphasize the passion and love in my life. I structured my poem in a receive and give way. What I was given in life is admired, and given much more in return. The themes explored in this poem were love, passion, and those feelings that make one feel above and beyond. I am not a fan of writing poems but reading them will always be my favorite thing.
Ximena Mexquitic: I was inspired by Antonio Machado who wrote a poem about the steps in his life that he made, especially with the people he came across. The writing process was difficult because making a creative poem took a lot of thinking. In the poem, I used a simile to describe and compare how love is like a garden that flourishes with passion. The poem's structure was to start with the difficulties in my life and introduce a theme. The themes I explored in my poem were love and sadness. I am not the best at writing poems, but I think it’s fun to do during my free time.
