Cada dia me esfuerzo
de mejorar en mi mismo
o en las decisiones que
tomo en mi vida.
Cada dia pateo la pelota y
trato de perfeccionar y
esquivar cada personas
como un obstáculo en la vida.
Dia a día me esfuerzo
Viviendo nuevas experiencias
Moviendo el balón pasando tiempo
Burlando a todos mis rivales
Sabiendo el alta estima
Que me tiene mi familia
Tomando la decisión
de hacer feliz a mi mama
Each day I tried harder
to be better in myself
or in the decisions that
I make in my life.
Each day I kick the ball and
try to perfect my touch and
dodge each person
like an obstacle in life.
Day to day I try hard
living new experiences
moving the ball and passing time
dribbling past my rivals
Knowing the high standards
That my family has for me
making the decisions
making my mom proud
Jazet Flores: What inspired me to write this essay was how my life was related to how I play soccer. In my writing process, I started thinking about how my love for soccer related to the experiences or obstacles I had in life. The literacy technique that I used was metaphor and imagery to give a message of how life can be and give a visual example of it. I structure my poem as the evolution of life and how there are obstacles in life. The themes that I was exploring were about the evolution of life and the experiences that I have gone through. I was inspired by Antonio Machado and one of his poems “He andado en muchos caminos” which led me to write this poem about our own lives because throughout my life I have been playing soccer since I was little and through it I got to learn a lot of things of life.
Emiliano Gomez: The poem named “He andado muchos caminos” by Antonio Machado in class inspired me to write this, he wrote about how life was a walk that would take you down different paths to experience and meet different people and things, his writing inspired me to think more about life and how he thought of life. My writing process was very interesting, I had to think more about the meaning of life and how different things could change you. Having to look back at the things I had to go through was difficult because my memories aren’t the best when I think about the ones that changed me, but they are very important in my life. I used the symbolism technique by saying “dribbling past my rivals”, this meant that like dribbling past other players with a ball on a football field, I would get past the obstacles in my life. I structured my poem in the form of talking about the things that are relevant to me today, and then speaking about the things that are important to me in the long-term goal of my life. I am exploring the theme of working hard to get past the obstacles that get in the way and the dream of proving people right and achieving success in this life. My name is Emiliano Gomez, I have a goal to become a better writer and live life to the fullest, I trust myself to go far and work hard to make it to success.
