In All About Love bell hooks explains love by showing us its connection in our private life and in our public lives. bell hooks explains the concept of love in different details of life, and draws attention to the importance of love and the word love can mean different ways for each person and it would be different from what the word love actually means. My favorite line was “I wanted to know love but I was afraid to surrender and trust another person. '' Something that I like about this line is that people in the world are actually scared to trust other people because they probably never trusted other people. This line made me think of how we should trust people around me and to actually know what love is. This text makes me curious about how people in the world really want to know love but they are scared to be surrounded by people and scared to trust another person. This makes me wonder if people really want to know love and want to be surrounded by other people and trust other people and the question that it makes me think of is do people need to know what love is and do they need to trust other people and be surrounded by other peoples.
Hooks also explains that love is more than just a feeling. It’s about how to make choices to care for yourself and others, and she says that loving yourself is really important before you can love other people. Love is something you have to work at every day, being kind and respectful to others. Hooks also says that love and fairness are really important, because she tells us love cannot exist with abuse, of any kind. Overall, the book teaches us that love can change us and make the world a better place.
My first takeaway from this text is that love is not just a feeling because it’s a choice that we can make every single day to care for ourselves and for others. A second takeaway is that before we can love each other, we must learn how to love and respect ourselves. The third takeaway is that love can involve treating others with kindness, and fairness. My last key takeaway from this text is we know love is a powerful force that can really bring us a positive change in our lives and in our society.
In “The Creative Process,” James Baldwin argues that artists are the most responsible for addressing social issues surrounding their works and holding a mirror to society. Baldwin explains that creativity is like a secret strength that can come from deep inside us and allows us to show our special thoughts and feelings. My favorite line from this text was “They do not know how they will live without those traditions that have given them their identity.” This line made me think that people should really need to know how to live without their traditions that have been given to them and that form their identity. This text makes me curious about how Baldwin can define the creative process and its meaning in our identity and relationships. This text makes me wonder about what personal experiences or understandings influenced Baldwin to illustrate the transformative power of creativity. It makes me wonder how Baldwin might encourage readers to support their creativity and to express themselves honestly through art.
In “The Creative Process”, James Baldwin is talking about how people should use their imagination and feelings so they can make something cool. For example it’s like painting a picture with their own words and ideas. James Baldwin said that being creative could be like being a detective and exploring their own thoughts and emotions so they can come up with something nice. An example is people playing with Legos; they can build new things that they come up with their own creativity and have fun creating something unique with their own ideas.
My first takeaway from this text is that James Baldwin inspires us to be funny and be brave in our own creative journey. A second takeaway is people can actually mix their own experiences with their imagination together to create something new and nice. The third takeaway is that for some people they can play around with the creativity and have fun with their own ideas that they come up with. My last takeaway from this text is that creativity can sometimes be valuable for people because they explore their own thoughts and feelings for them to make something special and unique.
When I think about both texts "All About Love” by Bell Hooks and “The Creative Process” by James Baldwin both had similar things. There were similar ideas about the book and article, for example, love and creativity are connected to each other and both texts highlight the importance of love and creativity in our own lives. Love and creativity can really show us that our own creative process and our love can really inspire us to express ourselves truly and both of them can really go well together in our surroundings where we can be honest and truthful with ourselves and to others. The other idea when I think about these two texts is that the self expression and truthfulness of both authors of these texts can really motivate us to be truthful to ourselves and to others and express our own thoughts and feelings without being judged by our surroundings. Love and creativity are connected to each other and allow us to explore new ideas, feelings, and ways to express ourselves. Both love and creativity can bring a great friendship to us and can really bring out the best in each other, and love and creativity can inspire us to be truthful to ourselves and create amazing effects that can really make us and other people happy.
The main thing that inspired me to write this essay is reading an article and a book and writing about the important things about the article and book, and explaining my own ideas and thoughts about the book and article. My writing process was a little bit hard because it was complicated thinking of my ideas and thoughts of the book and article after finishing reading them. The techniques that I used in my writing is finding evidence in the article and book, and body paragraphs so each body paragraph can focus on my topic sentence. I structure my essay by having an introduction, body, conclusion, and writing a short summary of the book and article that I read. Some themes that I am exploring in my writing are having my own ideas and thoughts about the book and article and writing them down to make an essay about the book All About Love and the article “The Creative Process.”
