In “The Creative Process” James Baldwin discusses how certain artists play a big role in society and affect it. I learned that we have our own creativity and express our emotions and allow us to show us how we feel. My favorite line was “ A society must assume that it is stable, but the artist must know, and he must let us know,that there is nothing stable under heaven”. What I like about this line is that society has its own reality and everyone just goes on with it. This line made me realize that it’s true and that there’s no right or true reality. The article made me realize what if this reality never existed and had another one. Or also what’s the true meaning of reality and how it’s supposed to be.
“The Creative Process” by James Baldwin is a text that discusses how us humans have our reality and how us humans function in this world. It talks about how we should use our brains and imagination and express ourselves and feelings, for example, through drawing and using words, because Baldwin said we need to explore ourselves and find out new things about ourselves. Humans building structures is an example of our capacity for innovation.
Baldwin inspires us to be fun and be brave about ourselves. We can mix our experiences and emotions to explore more and have new experiences, and you can even have fun doing this and can enjoy the process. A lot of people value and care a lot about creativity because it makes people have fun and escape reality and have a fun time doing something new.
In All About Love by bell hooks makes a connection about love and how it’s important in our lives overall. hooks explains the concept of love and how it’s something that changes your life and plays a big role in your life and that it can have different meanings depending on the person. My favorite line was “I wanted to know love but I was afraid to surrender and trust another person”. I like this quote because it shows how love can scare people and scare them to love again because love is something that it’s not easy to deal with. This shows me how people should have more trust and should not be afraid to love again. This text makes me curious about how people feel about love and if some still can’t find love or find a way that love works and it doesn’t hurt. This makes me think if people actually want love and truly want the meaning of it and experience it.
Hooks explains that love is about caring for yourself and others and that love is not just to another person but to yourself too. Love is something to work on and need to show it to others. She also mentions to be fair with love and spread it around the world because it helps. Hooks shows us how to understand love and what it truly means. Love can hurt but love is something awesome and a good experience and you learn from it. Many people hate or don’t like trying love again because of bad experiences, but if it is truly love everything is going to work and it won’t hurt you again if it’s with the right people.
When I read these two readings “The Creative Process" by James Baldwin and All About Love by bell hooks I think of a very strong connection. There's a strong connection between love and creativity. They made a good contrast and showed similarities. For example, being in love can make you feel new things and it can expand your knowledge and creativity. Being with someone you love and having a good bond with them can change you as a person and change your personality or your POV’s of certain things. Love can do anything and if there’s a connection between persons they can grow together and learn from each other and learn new things. Both readings show how they have very similar feelings and how they can bond and become something interesting and creative. These two can also motivate each other to do things you’ve never done before and do things you’d never imagine doing. Love and creativity have a bond and can change anyone. A question that comes to mind is how strong these relationships can be and how to have love and creativity at the same time and have a good connection. Love can unify persons and bring the best out of each other.
The process of writing this essay was simple. I took this writing very chill and tried my best to make it sound good. I tried to gather all the information I knew about the two readings I was going to write about. I needed to know before writing the essay specific information to make the essay make sense, and I divided the information into different sections or paragraphs. I then started with my introduction paragraph and summarized the whole essay. I wrote my paragraphs and talked about each reading and then compared them in my last paragraph. At last I wrote my conclusion paragraph and talked about my opinion on these two awesome readings and the connection it had and what connections I made.
