Welcome to the City of Big Lake, birthplace of the Permian Basin.
Where "Living's Great in Big Lake!"
Where "Living's Great in Big Lake!"
Big Lake, Texas was incorporated in 1923 after the infamous eruption of the Santa Rita #1 in nearby Texon. The Kansas City, Mexico and Orient Railroads laid tracks through Big Lake and the town soon began to populate. Big Lake has a rich history in oil and gas production, ranching, farming and wind energy. Some of the benefits of living in Big Lake are the local care providers at the Reagan Hospital, Clinic and Care Center; our exceptional educational staff at the Reagan County Independent School District; our local government leaders and workers; and the local businesses and citizens who truly make Big Lake a great place to live.
