Arianna recently hired in as the Assistant Code Enforcement Officer for the City of Big Lake.  She is currently training under Officer Cindy Mitchell.

It is the responsibility and duty of Code Enforcement to visually and physically inspect residential and commercial properties for compliance with city codes, zoning ordinances and construction codes. Functions include interpreting and enforcing property codes and regulations and working with the public to ensure compliance when violations are found.  Code Enforcement authorizes the issuance of permits; and reviews multi-family, commercial and individual plans with respect to construction codes.

Code Enforcement will coordinate with various city departments, civilian contractors, commercial contractors and public officials to ensure adherence to city codes, zoning ordinances and construction codes.

Functions of Code Enforcement include code enforcement, health inspector, building official, electrical inspector, plan review and zoning. 

The Code Enforcement Officer will:

·         Enforce all city codes of ordinances

·         Inspect all restaurants and mobile vendors

·         Inspect structure framing, rebar, and concrete

All plumbing will be inspected by the Public Works Director.

All fire safety related matters are inspected by the State Fire Marshall.

Code Enforcement works under the Life and Safety Code; 2009 Edition International Codes IFC, IBC, IRC; and NFPA 2008.

 Six months.

What do I need to know to get health a inspection?

For food establishments, such as restaurants and food trucks, you must meet all of the requirements of Texas Food Establishment Regulations. How long do permits last?

Building, electrical, and mobile home permits last six months. 

Do I need a permit to place a mobile home or storage building on my property? 

Yes, you may complete a mobile home/moving structure permit and contact Cindy at 325-884-2511, or email: ceo@cityofbiglaketx.org.  

How long does my golf cart permit last?

Golf Cart permits are valid until December 31st for the year in which it was issued, regardless of when the permit was issued. Golf Carts are required to physically inspected before a new permit may be issued. You may download a Golf Cart Permit Application here.

What information do I need in order to obtain a building permit?

Am I required to obtain a building permit if I am replacing my windows, my roof, my siding or my fence?
