City Administrator

Sheri Benson is the City Administrator for the City of Big Lake.  Sheri took the reigns as Administrator on March 16, 2020. Sheri has previous experience in city government when she served as City Administrator for the City of Mertzon from October, 2016 until coming to Big Lake. Sheri has a background in non-profit management, finance and experience as a business owner. Sheri is also a member of the Texas Municipal Clerks Association and is working for her certification as a Texas Municipal Clerk.  

Having grown up in a small oilfield town, Iraan, Texas, Sheri understands the dynamics of our economy and the values that are instilled by being active and involved in community events. She personifies her passion about involvement by serving as a member of the Big Lake Economic Development Beautification Committee and as a Board Member for the Big Lake Chamber of Commerce. 

As City Administrator for the City of Big Lake, Sheri strives to maintain Local Government transparency and financial balances between departments while working closely with the Big Lake City Council and adhering to the decisions made by the council.  She is responsible for the daily operations of the City and is an advocate for employees and a vessel of communication between the citizens and the council.
