The City of Big Lake holds an election the first Saturday of May every year. The purpose of the election is to elect the Mayor and Council members. All Councilmembers serve as 'At Large' positions for two years.

The City will be holding a Special Called Election on May 2, 2026 to fill the vacated seat of deceased councilmember, Charlie Walker.
Applications for Place on the Ballot can be picked at City Hall. Ballot applications can be filed at City Hall, 203 N. Plaza Ave, from February 4, 2026 until March 3, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
Early Voting will take place at City Hall, 203 N. Plaza Ave, Big Lake, Tx 76932. Early Voting Hours are as follows:
April 20 - April 23, 2026: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m
April 24, 2026: 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m
April 27 - April 28, 2026: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
