Process

My process is reliant on two things, research and my sketchbook. I find things that interest me in life, and delve further into them through research during my work. Essentially, I work by interpreting things that interest me or that I think are important and fleshing them out with research. For the actual piece, I usually go to my sketchbook for reference and ideas. That’s where I usually end up bringing my ideas into life for the first time. I use those sketchbook drawings for later, larger projects.

Progress

For me, making progress means becoming more comfortable with the materials and more purposeful with my subject matter. I think that I’ve improved my technical skill, but what I’m more happy about is feeling comfortable working in different mediums as well as finding direction for my art easier than in the past. In short, I feel like the progress I’m making in the way that I approach my work is more important than my technical growth.
