My process is adding and taking my time on my art...

My works in this category is a shirt I made and a weaving of some very interesting trees I came across on a trail in Utah. The shirts' sleeves are abnormally long because the prompt for the design was scale. I made sure that the shirt was very tight and cropped while the sleeves were loose and long. The shirt explores the theme of process because of the way I make all of my clothes; any design I make requires me to design, then a pattern, and then to sew the garment on a sewing machine. The weaving I made of the trees also explores the theme of process because of the steps required to make the art. I have to weave the yarn in and out of the strings and make a pattern.

Progress for me is learning from what I did last time and changing the art...

My work in progress textile design is a collared shirt I ripped and sewed back together to make it seem “ruined” or “destroyed”. This work exemplifies progress because each time I make a new rip in the shirt and sew it together again, I make progress to the finish line of the project. My progress is unique to me because I like to rip, cut, and shred my clothing to make it look demolished. I have seen some fashion designers make their clothing look muddy or have holes and rips in it and I’m inspired by the way they do it on purpose to make it look more interesting.
