The Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) is an independent organization within the IRS. It is your voice at the IRS, and they work to ensure that every taxpayer is treated fairly and that you know and understand your rights.

The Low-Income Taxpayer Clinics (LITC) assists low-income individuals who have a tax dispute with the IRS, and provide education and outreach to individuals who speak English as a Second Language (ESL). Clinics offer free help with audits, appeals, tax collection, and understanding your rights.
ELIGIBILITY: The amount in dispute with the IRS must generally be less than $50,000. Income limits apply and families must earn less than 250% of poverty guidelines.
While there aren't any LITCs in Alameda County, there are are three Low-Income Taxpayer Clinics in San Francisco: the University of California Law School, the San Francisco Bar Association, and the Chinese Newcomers Service Center. Scroll down and click on each button to learn more!
