The City of Fremont's "Keep Fremont Housed" program can provide assistance for unpaid rent and utilities dating back as far as April 1, 2020, the date of the federal COVID-19 emergency declaration. Applicants may apply for rental assistance, utility assistance, or both.
ELIGIBILITY: Must be a Fremont resident. Must have a household income at or below 80% Area Median Income (AMI). One or more individuals within the household has qualified for unemployment benefits or experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or experienced other financial hardship due, directly or indirectly, to the COVID-19 pandemic. One or more individuals within the household can demonstrate a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability

CityServe of the Tri-Valley assists with the basic needs of individuals and families and provides resources or safety net services to those experiencing crisis. Services provided include rent payment assistance, education, resources, referrals to specific services, & ensuring that participants are given the tools, documents, and information.

ELIGIBILITY
Must live in Alameda County, except for the cities of Oakland and Fremont.
Must qualify for unemployment benefits or experienced a reduction in household income, incurred siginifican costs, or experienced other financial hardship due to COVID-19.
Demonstrate a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability, which may include past-due rent or utilities or unsafe/unhealthy living conditions.
Have a household income that is not more than 80% of the area median income.

Season of Sharing Alameda County provides housing assistance and critical families needs assistance to eligible households in Alameda County who demonstrate a critical need arising from emergency circumstances beyond their control.
CATEGORIES OF ASSISTANCE: Housing Assistance; Critical Families Needs Assistance
Housing Assistance: Security deposit for permanent housing: Delinquent rent or mortgage
Critical Families Needs Assistance: (1)Utilities (electricity, gas, or water) under threat of shut-off or already shut off at current residence; (2) Limited furniture items under specific circumstances including fire/catastrophe, extended homelessness, and domestic violence; (3) Limited medical equipment and mobility aids (deemed medically necessary and not otherwise covered by insurance).
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be current Alameda County residents (minimum 6 continuous months) in one of the following categories:
Families with dependent children (age 18 and under) living in the home
Permanently disabled individuals (18 years & older & receiving SSDI/SSI or medically verified)
Older individuals, age 55 & older
Former foster youth, ages 18-24
Veterans
Survivors of intimate partner violence & violent crimes (occurrence within the past 6 months)
Pregnant individuals in their 2nd trimester or later

The Oakland Service Center of Catholic Charities provides a variety of services such as rental deposit assistance and rent payment assistance to residents of Alameda County.
Rental Deposit Assistance: Provides rental assistance for back rent, current rent, or deposit. Utility assistance is limited to those receiving rental or deposit assistance. Clients will have to be approved for the place first then apply to our program.
Rent Payment Assistance: Provides rental assistance for back rent, or current rent. Utility assistance is limited to those receiving rental or deposit assistance.
ELIGIBILITY:
Rental assistance for back rent for individuals who have received an eviction notice or three-day notice.
Current rent or deposit, for individuals who have identified a new place to live and have a letter of intent to rent or Section 8 recipients with a passing proof of inspection report.
Clients will have to be approved for the place first then apply to the program.

ECHO Housing's Rental Assistance program offers residents of the cities of Livermore and Pleasanton with move-in costs and delinquent rent due to a temporary financial setback.
ELIGIBILITY: Must be a family with children, elderly, permanently disabled, emancipated foster youth, a veteran, a victim of domestic violence, or a pregnant woman in her second trimester or later and are:
(1) SEEKING ASSISTANCE WITH SECURITY DEPOSIT: Must be an Alameda resident for at least 6 months and must have located affordable housing and been approved for it; OR
(2) SEEKING ASSISTANCE WITH DELINQUENT RENT: Must have a letter or some other notice from the landlord stating that you are behind on your rent.
