DESCRIPTION: St. Vincent de Paul Society of Alameda County, the largest emergency shelter in Alameda County, offers emergency overnight shelter for people experiencing homelessness. They do so by operating a 75-bed shelter in partnership with the City of Oakland. First-time visitors should visit the shelter at 5:30 p.m. to register. Family Emergency Shelter Coalition (FESCO) assists families and single parents experiencing homelessness by providing food, emergency, transitional, and permanent housing, along with supportive services. FESCO operates an emergency shelter, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing. The emergency shelter is Les Marquis House (see below!)

Les Marquis House is a 23-bed emergency shelter that houses up to 8 families. It offers case management, life skills classes, job training, kid's activities, and linkage to independent housing, benefits acquisition, and other services for up to 60 days.

ELIGIBILITY: Homeless, low-income family accompanied by minor children. Pregnant women 28-40 weeks along. Families may share room (depending on family size and beds available).

The Sunrise Village Homeless Shelter is an emergency and transitional shelter for individuals and families with children. We provide those in need with a safe harbor where they can move to the next stage of their life.

CityTeam Oakland provides a safe place for homeless men and women to sleep. They serve the community in Oakland by providing temporary, emergency care while sharing God's love with the homeless. Bridget House provides up to 6 months of housing for five families (a mother and up to two children). We focus on helping mothers who have a history of domestic violence and/or drug or alcohol addiction.

The Salvation Army Oakland Chinatown Corps provides housing, food and overnight lodging for varying amounts of time to destitute families, people experiencing homelessness, the displaced, and to youth where family care is undesirable or unavailable. In addition, they supplement every shelter service with emotional and spiritual support.
