Cypress Mandela Training Center offers a FREE 16-week pre-apprenticeship program for Bay Area men and women ages 18 and older. This program is both hands-on and in the classroom. Students will be prepared for skilled trades jobs that are relevant to today’s construction industry. Click on the button on the left to learn more.

The Oakland Boutique & Training Center of Wardrobe for Opportunity provides low-income men and women in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties with quality business clothing appropriate for job interviews and the professional workplace as well as workshops that offer career development support. Workshops length are 2-weeks to 10-weeks. Each client receives two interviewing outfits for interviews and a working wardrobe when jobs are obtained. All clients are referred by qualified social service and job training agencies that determine the client's readiness to work. They offer a six-week development program to strengthen clients communication and conflict resolution while learning critical teamwork skills.
ELIGIBILITY: Referral by qualified partnering social service agencies or job-training programs. Adult, low-income job seekers or entry-level workers in Alameda County and Contra Costa County.

The Career Training & Employment Center (CTEC) of Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency (BOSS) provides a wealth of resources that includes education, job training, and employment services for anyone with barriers to employment, including those who have been impacted by the justice system.
Services Provided: case management; career & computer training; GED classes; mentorship and peer support; links to outside service providers; transportation assistance; college enrollment assistance/guidance; job readiness assessments; help preparing resumes & conducting practice interviews; searching for jobs online and through other available job listings; building soft skills; and participating in hands-on industry specific training at partner locations.
ELIGIBILITY: Open to the community. Individuals who are low-income, formerly incarcerated and/or system-impacted are encouraged to visit. Accepts referrals by Alameda County Probation. Referrals can receive a stipend for transitional work placements.

The Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center helps under-served individuals to start businesses that bring jobs and sustainable economic health to Alameda County. The New Start Tattoo Removal Program provides the removal of visible gang and drug related tattoos to youth in the Eden and Tri-Cities geographical areas. The services include tattoo removal, goal setting and group support of young people, who are seeking positive change. Tattoo removal raises self-esteem, increase job opportunities, connects with youth with the community, and increases personal safety.

The Rising Sun Center for Opportunity provides Opportunity Build. Opportunity Build is an industry-certified construction training program providing a path to union apprenticeship in the skilled trades. The program begins with 10-12 weeks of hands-on training at our Oakland facility and offers 12 months of one-on-one job placement and retention support. Graduates are prepared to pursue careers in the union construction trades, becoming Sheet Metal Workers, Operating Engineers, Carpenters, and more. Certain trades offer direct entry for Opportunity Build graduates.
