Algebra

Effective mathematics teaching relies on knowledge of students’ pre-existing ideas and the implementation of effective strategies to support students to develop more sophisticated mathematical understandings.  

The descriptions of learning progressions in this section may assist teachers to develop their understanding of what growth in the Pattern and Algebra strand looks like, and so provide a basis for establishing students current levels of proficiency and learning goals.
